Courthouse ARTS provides a range of facilities for hire for general and community users. These spaces suit a wide variety of uses – from performances, to exhibitions, conferences, meetings, rehearsals, lectures and functions. Our newly renovated venue is a welcoming and exciting space, combining the very best of contemporary architecture within a stylish art deco façade.

 

All spaces within the Courthouse building are fully equipped with sound, lighting, AV and projection. Our venue staff are happy to discuss your needs to ensure your event runs seamlessly. Members of Courthouse ARTS can access great spaces for amazing prices – it pays to join and reap the benefits!

Main Theatre

The completely refurbished theatre at Courthouse ARTS is a versatile space suitable for a variety of functions and performances. Located in the old Supreme Court, this imposing and impressive space has a high ceiling and wonderful art deco features. Full theatrical drapes allow the space to be blacked out entirely or may be opened for natural light through our original windows.  The fully retractable seating bank provides 128 seats in its standard configuration. This can be expanded or reduced depending on the needs of your event. When the seating back is fully retracted, the theatre also provides an open and welcoming environment suitable for concerts, large rehearsals, fashion shows and much more. Flexible seating and staging also allows for the theatre to be used for traverse or in-the-round configurations in air conditioned comfort. Disability access.

The theatre is fully equipped with lighting sound and AV equipment to suit your needs. Two dressing rooms and a toilet/shower are located backstage. A goods lift allows for transportation from street level up to the venue.

A variety of hire packages offer use on an hourly, full day or weekly rate. Front of house and technical staffing for the venue is available according to your event needs. Other optional features of the venue include.

Gallery

Located on the ground floor, the white box gallery is an excellent space for all kinds of exhibitions. Opening out to one of central Geelong’s most popular cafes, the gallery has the potential to expose your work to approximately 200 people every day.

The gallery is fully equipped with exhibition lighting and sound equipment.

Studio

A welcoming naturally lit and airy space, the studio is perfect for rehearsals and classes. Unleash your creativity in this amazing fully air conditioned room. Available for both day and evening hire, the studio can be booked for one-off or regular times.
Audio, lighting facilities and dance mirrors available.

Laboratory

The Laboratory is the place for members with a bent for animation, music making or film making. This computer laboratory contains high end PC’s and a Mac loaded with animation, sound mixing and film editing software.

 

Meeting Room

Make meetings a pleasure in our beautiful meeting room. Room can be divided into two for small gatherings or break out rooms. Let your mind wander out the windows into the greenery of the trees outside or the architecture of Town Hall opposite when the agenda gets to be too much….
Built-in digital projector with audio for presentations and fully air conditioned for your comfort.

Artist Studios
