Teaching Artists

Meryl Friend
Actor
has a Bachelor of Arts in Education with a Double Major in Drama & Dance. TV credits include Neighbours, Blue Heelers and Stingers. Meryl is often seen on our Geelong stages, working with
Peninsula Players, Barwon Theatre Co and Geelong Rep. Meryl is a news reporter with Channel 31-Digital 44, News Geelong and hosts the Friday Arts program for Vision Australia Radio 99.5fm.

Luke Elliot
Actor
is a VCA graduate. Film & TV credits include Noise, Rush, Eugenie Sandler PI, Stingers, Satisfaction and Blue Heelers. He has worked with companies such as Playbox, Malthouse, Ranters, Red Stitch and MTC and received Green Room Awards for Performance in 2000 and 2007 and further nominations in 1995, 1998 and 2008.

Ross Mueller
Writer/Director
is one of Australia’s most exciting playwrights. He has had work produced by MTC, STC, Griffin, Hothouse, St Martins and Canberra Youth Theatre. His most recent was a sold out production of ZEBRA! at STC, starring Bryan Brown and Colin Friels. He won the Wal Cherry in 2007 and has worked internationally with the Royal Court and New York New Dramatists. He recently taught young emerging playwrights at Fresh Ink’s National Studio at Riversdale.

Xavier McGettigan
Dancer/Choreographer
is Director of Attitude Dance. He studies pro dance at Jason Coleman’s Ministry of Dance in Melbourne. He has recently appeared on Geelong stages in Sweet Charity, A Chorus Line and Spring Awakening. He choreographed the GSODA Junior Players’ Game On (winning Most Innovative Feature, Geelong Virtual Oscars) and Geelong Lyric Theatre’s Fiddler on the Roof. He is co-creating a new show called Head Case for 2012 at Courthouse ARTS.

Rachel Burke
Visual Artist
is best known for her decoupage lamps, created and sold under her company name, Patturn. Rachel creates art from found and recycled materials.

Georgina Capper
Actor / Theatre Maker
studied Drama and German Literature at Monash University and the Freie Universität, Berlin. She has worked with MTC, Full Tilt, PlayWriting Australia, Here Theatre, StoreRoom Theatre Workshop and Leisa Shelton’s ensemble Antechambre, and is employed extensively in the development of new Australian plays. She has been twice nominated for Green Room Awards, and was co-recipient for ensemble in 2006.
