Categories and Awards

Comedy

Have you ever actually seen a Cats supporter at the height of passion? Or been to the Nash on a Saturday night? Between the hipsters, the mullets, the footy and the heavy metal, Geelong knows how to laugh at itself. In fact, we do it better than anyone else.

  • Best Comedy Film
  • Best Comedy Production

Drama

Love, danger and intrigue in a town that feels too small – it’s not hard to find a story in Geelong. Something short, something punchy that always hints at a bigger story. Little details, like a raised eyebrow or a broken bottle. It can happen anywhere, and more often than not it happens in Geelong.

  • Best Dramatic Film
  • Best Dramatic Production

Art Film

What can you do with a digital camera? It’s easily the cheapest way to experiment, to push the limits of what you can show on screen. Even that blurry, chunky, grainy video has an artistic quality to it, a texture all its own. Between cheap video editing and effects, and an infinite amount of ideas to show in film, you will surprise us.

  • Best Art Film
  • Best Art Production

Documentary

Reporting on the run, revealing what was hidden – the documentarian wants to know about history and the world, and wants to show you what they’ve found. With a digital camera, and a city full of stories and secrets, you can give your own take on the facts.

  • Best Documentary Film
  • Best Documentary Production

Special Awards

  • Popular Choice Award
  • Most Environmentally Friendly Film
  • Most Adventurous
