“Mainstream music was thrown out the window at the Valley Mill on Saturday. Talented you musicians from Geelong’s northern suburbs showcased some of their own creations in a sonic adventure titled THE DESERT.” Ryan Reynolds, GEELONG ADVERTISER

NEW YEARS REVOLUTION is proud to present a group of young sound artists, whose music comes from harnessing and playing with the noise of scavenged objects.

Date: Friday 27 January
Time: 8.10pm
Venue: Studio
Gold Coin Admission

About the Artists

A contemporary experimental sound project for young people, Noise Scavengers are now part of an ambitious interabilities sound project called CLICK CLACK that brings together professional musicians, young people and people with disabilities to create live performances of experimental sound and music.

Noise Scavengers emerged from a youth sound project at Cloverdale Community Centre in 2008. Since then Noise Scavengers have recorded three CDs and performed The Desert at Geelong’s Valley Mill, Monuments at Footscray Community Arts Centre and The Mountain at 45downstairs with the Bolt Ensemble and the Amplified Elephants, as well as at a Regional Arts Victoria conference and City of Greater Geelong Arts Grants Presentation ceremony.

Noise Scavengers work with techniques and ideas that exist outside mainstream music practices and combine traditional music instruments with technology. For the young members of Noise Scavengers the project provides opportunities to develop their musical and sound recording skills and the confidence to perform alongside professional musicians in a contemporary music setting.
