A poetic evening of readings from young and emerging writers in Geelong.

Jo Langdon is the joint winner of the Whitmore Press manuscript Prize and Jamie King-Holden has been described as a magisterial painter of the everyday. These two wonderful poets will be joined by Anthony Lynch for an intimate collection of readings in the gallery space at Courthouse ARTS.

Whitmore Press, an independent and non-profit venture, was established in 2004 with the launch of the first issue of Space: New Writing.
The press is currently publishing a series of limited edition poetry chapbooks. The Whitmore Press publisher is Anthony Lynch.

About the Artists

Jamie King-Holden  lives in Geelong and studies literature at Deakin University. Her first book of poetry, Chemistry, was published by Whitmore Press in 2011. Her poetry has appeared in Antipodes, Dotdotdash, Eureka Street, Ekleksographia and Verandah. She was shortlisted for the Gwen Harwood Poetry Prize in 2010 and was guest emerging writer for the Mildura Writers festival in 2011.

Jo Langdon lives in Geelong where she is completing a PhD in literary studies at Deakin University. She is joint winner of the 2011 Whitmore Press Manuscript Prize, and chapbook of her poetry will be published in early 2012.

Anthony Lynch lives on the Bellarine Peninsula where he writes poetry, fiction and reviews. His work has appeared in The Age, Best Australian Poems, Island and Southerly, and been read on ABC Radio National. His short story collection Redfin (Arcadia) was shortlisted for the Queensland Premier’s Literary Awards, and his poetry collection Night Train was published in December 2011 by Melbourne publisher Clouds of Magellan. He is publisher at Whitmore Press, an independent publishing house established in 2004, and an editor at Deakin University.
